Flood Relief Project
In September, our team was made aware of the devastating flooding that has taken place in Korah this year. Due to a severe rainy season and accumulation of trash and debris, the river near Korah has significantly narrowed, leading to major flooding that has destroyed many homes and displaced numerous families. This crisis is unprecedented in Korah, where people have never experienced flooding on this scale.
To respond to this disaster, Korah Kids has partnered with local government, businesses, and community members to develop a long term solution. Our plan involves removing the built-up debris that blocks proper drainage into the river. Once cleared, we'll restore the river to its original width, allowing it to flow naturally and prevent future flooding.
To complete this urgent project, we need to raise $1,800 USD. Please consider donating any amount to help us bring essential relief and stability to Korah and the many families we serve.

About Korah
The village of Korah began 80+ years ago when the first leprosy hospital, ALERT Hospital, opened for business. This hospital was established by Dr. Ross, from the U.S., and a Dutch doctor named Chris Dorman. After hearing about the rampant spread of leprosy, these two men approached King Hale Selase to request land to establish a hospital specifically for the treatment of leprosy. King Hale Selase was willing to give land, but only land that was far from the town and in the forest to keep the people with leprosy separate from everyone else.
Our Story
In january of 2017, Darci and Shaydon Burke were visiting the community of Korah, Ethiopia on a humanitarian trip. Throughout that day they had been handing out clothing and monetary donations to the people of Korah. At the end of the day as they were loading the vans to leave, a little girl walked up to them. Her clothes and shoes were torn and tattered. She was wearing one shoe that was too big, and one that was too small. They were only being worn to cover the bottom of her little feet. Darci, Shaydon, and the team they were with had already given out all of the donations that they had brought for the day and felt bad they had nothing to give this little girl, especially a pair of new shoes.
Feeding Center
The Feeding Center can feed up to 50 kids a meal each day, likely being their only meal that day. It costs $30/month to feed a child a meal every day. Help us put an end to starvation in Korah by making a one time or monthly donation to our feeding center.
