Sponsorship

Make a monthly, tax-deductible donation to help specific families in Korah.

GIVE so that another might LIVE! Our sponsorship program provides for a child’s basic needs to be met such as food, shelter, and education. You will feel a connection with your sponsored child through letters and pictures. It will bless your life and soften your heart, and most importantly change the world for a child in need.

Our sponsorship program entails:

  • Sponsored kids have food distributed each month to them from our on ground partner ministry in Korah. Nutrition is vital to a child’s growth and development and sponsorship ensures that they do not have to go hungry.

  • We believe that education is the answer to a better future of the children of Korah. Sponsorship allows kids the opportunity to attend school instead of spending their days begging for food on the streets or searching through the trash dump.

  • Sponsorship helps the community of Korah by empowering kids! It gives them hope for a better future and therefore brings hope to the entire community.

  • Sponsorship changes lives! We believe that sponsorship not only changes the life of a child in need, but it will change the sponsors life too. Winston Churchill said it best, “we make a living by what we get,we make a life by what we GIVE.”

Ruth- Girls Home

Ruth is the youngest of three sisters in our girls home and without a doubt, one of the brightest lights in it. Ruth is 8 years old and is hilarious, quick-witted, and always the first to jump in and help. Whether she’s making everyone laugh or quietly helping others, Ruth carries so much joy wherever she goes. She loves school and takes her studies seriously. Her favorite subject is English and she loves to practice with anyone she can. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Ruth always says a doctor and a mother.

Ruth has been with us for three years, after losing both of her parents and coming from a conflict-affected area. Her early years were full of challenges, but today, she is thriving - surrounded by love, laughter, and the stability of a family again. Please consider sponsoring Ruth and joining our community committed to loving and encouraging these girls in our BeMore Girls home.

Lia - Girls Home

Lia is an energetic and loving 13-year-old girl who has already endured more than most children her age. She was born in the Ethiopian countryside to a young mother and father who separated when she was just a toddler. Unable to provide the care Lia needed on her own, Lia’s mother sent her to live with her grandmother when she was 5 years old. Tragically, just a year later, her grandmother passed away.

Lia was then sent to live with her father and stepmother, but it was a deeply unsafe environment where she faced rejection and severe abuse. After two painful years, Lia ran away and began surviving on her own in the streets. Eventually, she was found by local police and taken to a government-run orphanage, where she remained until being welcomed into our BeMore Girls Home.

Despite everything she has been through, Lia is incredibly bright, warm-hearted, and full of potential. She is now in a safe and nurturing space where she can rest, learn, and begin to thrive. Please consider sponsoring Lia, allowing her to receive the consistent care, education, and love she deserves as she builds a brighter future.

Bemnet - Girls Home

Bemnet is a bright and resilient 12-year-old girl who recently joined our BeMore Girls Home. She was born to a teenage mother who gave Bemnet to her own mother in hopes of giving her daughter a better life. Bemnet spent her early childhood in the Ethiopian countryside with her grandmother, who loved her dearly but struggled to provide for their basic needs. They rarely had enough food and Bemnet was unable to attend school.

About a year ago, Bemnet’s grandmother made the difficult decision to bring her back to her mother in Addis Ababa, believing the city might offer more opportunities. Unfortunately, Bemnet faced months of hardship and abuse before being helped by a local organization that provided temporary shelter and care. She was later referred to a government-run orphanage, where she spent the next nine months before finally being welcomed into our Girls Home.

Now, with the safety and stability of the BeMore Girls Home, Bemnet is beginning to heal and dream again. She has immediately fit in with the other girls and is always first to help and play with others. With the support of a sponsor, Bemnet will have everything she needs to grow in a safe, nurturing environment. Please consider joining Bemnet on her new journey toward a bright future!

Hiwot and Koket

Hiwot and Koket are sisters, ages 21 and 19, who have spent most of their lives in Addis Ababa after losing both of their parents at a young age. They were brought to the city by extended family members but eventually lost contact and now have no known relatives. After years of instability, moving house to house with neighbors or strangers that would take them in, as well as living on the streets, they’ve now been living together in Korah for about three years.

Both girls haven’t been able to find stable, long-term work and struggle to make ends meet each month. Both sisters are determined, resilient, and eager to continue their education through vocational training, creating stability and independence for their future. We are looking for a sponsor who can support the girls through rent and vocational school assistance. By sponsoring Hiwot and Koket, you will help champion them on their new journey — helping them break an intergenerational cycle of poverty and pioneer a new path.

We anticipate this sponsorship need to be around eighteen months. Your contribution creates real, lasting change in these sisters lives and helps them move closer to stability, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future.

Ruhama

Ruhama is a sweet 6-year-old girl who lives in Korah with her mother, Benalf. As a single parent facing serious health challenges with HIV, Benalf is unable to work and has little family or community support to rely on.

Although her own education ended after 10th grade, Benalf dreams of one day learning hairstyling so she can provide for her daughter in the future. For now, sponsorship is a lifeline — helping cover food, rent, and basic needs, and giving them hope where otherwise there would be none.

Mekonen - One-time Empowerment Support

Mekonen is a determined husband and father of three children, ages 1, 9, and 14, who is part of our program in Korah. Although he receives food support, his family continues to face significant financial challenges.

Fourteen years ago, Mekonen lost his leg in a tragic accident. Since then, he has relied on crutches to move around, making daily life and consistent work much more difficult. Despite this, he remains incredibly resilient and committed to providing for his family.

Mekonen has a valuable skill. He knows how to sew. With the right tools, he has the ability to build a sustainable livelihood. A sewing machine, costing just $400, would allow him to begin making and selling clothing, creating a steady income and moving his family toward self-reliance.

Both Mekonen and our staff are confident in his ability to succeed. This is not just a need but an opportunity. A one-time investment in a sewing machine could change the trajectory of his family’s future. Your support would empower Mekonen to provide for his children with dignity and independence for years to come.

Yeshemebet - Rent

Yeshemebet is a devoted wife and mother of two young boys, ages 8 and 9, living in the Korah community. Her family has faced immense hardship. Her husband suffers from leprosy and is unable to work, relying on begging each day just to provide the most basic necessities for their family.

Yeshemebet herself endured a traumatic accident that left her with lasting brain damage, making it impossible for her to work or contribute financially. Despite these challenges, she continues to care deeply for her children, who are bright, loving boys with so much potential.

The family currently receives food support, but they are struggling to cover the cost of rent. They live in an extremely small home, with barely enough space for all four of them to lie down at night. Their situation is both physically and emotionally overwhelming, and they urgently need additional support to maintain stable housing and provide a safe environment for their children.

Your sponsorship helps lift a tremendous burden from this family, giving them not only stability but also hope during an incredibly difficult season of life.

Lakech

Lakech came to Addis Ababa as a young girl, just 7 or 8 years old, seeking treatment for leprosy. What began as a search for healing became a lifelong journey of resilience. Over the years, she lost most of her fingers, parts of her hands, and has a severely deformed leg due to her complications. She now lives with ongoing pain and continues to navigate the lasting effects of her illness every single day.

Lakech never married or had children and she lives alone in a small home near the Korah Kids compound, with no family to rely on. She never had the chance to continue school or build a stable source of income, but she carries a quiet strength and deep gratitude. Sponsorship helps cover her rent, food, and necessary medical care that allows her to live with a sense of dignity and stability. She is incredibly thankful, and your support truly meets her in a place of real need.
